Carol (Sims) LaBrie

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Doniphan. Celebrant will be Fr. Adam Sughroue. Burial will follow in Cedarview Cemetery near Doniphan.Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a rosary service at 7 p.m. on Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home, Grand Island.Carol was born on Sept. 20, 1944 in Grand Island, daughter of Melvin and Leola (Griffin) Sims. A lifelong resident of central Nebraska, she graduated from Giltner High School class of 1962.On Sept. 5, 1964 she was united in marriage to Robert “Jody” LaBrie.  Carol was employed by Northwestern Bell as a telephone operator. After getting married she found her true calling in life and created a haven for her family as a stay at home mom. She was an immaculate housekeeper, and her home and heart were always open and ready to give encouragement, love and advice when needed.She was the greatest “Behind the Scene” cheerleader for her children. She was the neighborhood mom whom everyone came to for love and advice; caretaker for her father, weather watcher, green thumb, loved reading, taking rides in the rain, spoiling her pets, doing crossword puzzles, canning and cooking, and watching Investigation Discovery Channel.Carols’ presence brought love and acceptance to all and will greatly be missed. Her surviving family include her husband, Jody; children, Brett (Maureen) LaBrie of Des Moines, Iowa, Melinda “Mindy” (Mel) Lewis of Aurora, Margo LaBrie of Aurora; grandchildren, Miranda, Brandon, Colin, Marcus, Mason, and Maya and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.Carol was preceded in death by her son, Bartt LaBrie; parents, Melvin and Leola Sims; brothers, Richard and Jerry Sims; sister and brother-in-law, Re (Red) Consbruck; parents-in-law, Glenn and Lurye LaBrie; sisters-in-law, Margaret Baxa and Sandy LaBrie.Memorials are suggested to Carol’s family to be designated at a later date.Cond...
